Kitchen lithos imprimées à la cuillère à Exeter en Grande Bretagne.
Cathy King : Prinmaker
My original training was as a Montessori Teacher, followed by a degree in Humanities. I have now returned to pursue my earlier interests in drawing, painting and printing. This led me to join the Double Elephant Print Workshop in Exeter where I am now a full time member. I also volunteer and work with their outreach programme which takes printing out into the wider community.
I work across a range of print mediums including relief, collagraph and monoprint. I like the spontaneous nature of monoprinting as well as the more complex layering technique of collagraphs. My linocuts employ the use of vibrant colour, bold shapes and movement to create semi abstract and figurative representations. It is these conflicting qualities that for me make printing so engaging and dynamic.
The inspiration for my work is widely taken from the natural landscape and my prints represent a response defined by strong lines, shape and colour.
